Job Description:
So the DRO shop in Mesa is a Depot, Repair & Overhaul shop for the Apache program. Mechanics will be responsible for navigating/interpreting assembly drawings, process specifications and technical manuals, inspecting and verifying dimensions and clearances of parts to verify conformance to factory specifications, utilizing tools such as micrometers, calipers and gauges. They need to promote and work in a safe and organized work area by maintaining active control over tools, equipment and retaining FOD (Foreign Object Debris) awareness at all times. Potential candidates should possess advanced technical skills and knowledge with a positive attitude with the team and a willingness to learn and grow.
For my specific Repair team, mechanics will be bringing used parts back to serviceability – fit, form, function (not brand new). The true goal is to quickly address any forms of corrosion, nicks and scratches by performing the minimal amount of blending on components of the Apache Helicopter, such as, Gear box parts, transmission parts and upper control magnesium parts.
Repair process
• Analyze part for necessary repair
• Determine substrate of part
• Check paperwork for NCR information, serial & part number verifications
• Work with Manufacturing Engineers/Liaison Engineers for planning issues or further review and disposition clarification
• Most of what we do is hand finishing, stud replacements,, bushing replacements, inserts, some machining (currently expanding), also touch up of various chemicals – i.e., CAD, Tagnite
• Measurement before during and after damage removal so as not to exceed limits
• Dealing with numerous forms of Corrosion, identifying it and removing it when needed
Req Required Skills:
• Mechanical skills/background
Preferred Skills:
• Aviation skills experience a plus
Education/experience typically acquired through basic education (e.g. high school diploma/GED).
