Since there are many resources available on resume preparation this post won’t delve into that topic. But bear in mind your resume is your ticket to the interview party so it must be well written. This includes proper spelling, grammar, accurate employment dates, etc. Enough about that.
So you’ve gotten the interview for your dream job. You show up with a big smile on your face (see day one’s tip) and sit down across from the person you most want to impress. Suddenly they start fumbling around and realize your resume isn’t handy. Can this happen? Well it can and does happen more than you know. But you’re prepared and of course instantly produce a copy of your resume. Want to make a good impression? You just did and you’re standing tall against your competition. Said another way – NEVER GO TO AN INTERVIEW WITHOUT YOUR RESUME! Have several in the event you’re going to meet with multiple individuals.
Here’s a bonus tip. Just as you produced a copy of your resume at a moment’s notice you should also have separately prepared a list of three, count ’em, three professional references. Whip those out and watch the pleased look on your new boss’s face.
