Design and Analysis Engineer 4

 

The Design and Analysis Engineer leads work with customers to develop and document complex electronic and electrical system requirements. Leads and coordinates work to analyze and translate requirements into system architecture, hardware and software designs and interface specifications. Leads work to test and validate to ensure system designs meet operational and functional requirements. Oversees the team that monitors supplier performance to ensure system integration and compliance with requirements. Solves problems concerning and provides other support of fielded hardware and software over the entire product lifecycle. Researches technology advances for potential application to company business needs. Makes recommendations for technology investments.

Position Responsibilities (including but not limited to):
The Payloads Organization is responsible for everything you see when you fly; and much of which you don’t. The Interiors of the airplane, along with the cargo compartments, exterior markings, associated systems, and cabin safety all make up Payloads. We are how our airline customers fulfill their mission and represent their brand and shape how the public experiences flight. Our organization is a fast paced, dynamic environment, which pulls from many engineering backgrounds.
Seat Engineers are responsible for managing the integration of multiple development passenger seat programs into our aircraft by overseeing supplier seat designs to ensure all customer, regulatory, and Company requirements are met. To be successful requires extensive coordination with Customer Engineering, Payload Configuration, Supplier Management, Seat Suppliers, Airline Customers, numerous interfacing program commodity teams, regulatory administration, FAA, and factory personnel. In addition, a strong engineering foundation is needed to review and approve supplier technical data, understand certification test requirements, prepare engineering releases to support seat and systems installations, author and release compliance summary reports. Must be able to represent the company professionally in demanding environments. Airline Customers and Seat Suppliers are located around the globe, requiring flexibility to support meeting at any time, as well the need for travel, domestically and internationally.
Payloads is seeking candidates with experience in any of the following areas:
Engineering support and project leadership within a production system
Direct engagement working with/for aerospace suppliers or airlines
Validating/demonstrating compliance to regulatory requirements
Working with regulators
Design for manufacturing

 

Design and Analysis Engineer Position Responsibilities:
Works with customers to develop and document complex electronic and electrical system requirements for passenger seats.
Analyzes and translates requirements into system, hardware and software designs and interface specifications.
Tests and validates to ensure system designs meet operational and functional requirements.
Supervises supplier performance to ensure system integration and compliance with requirements.
Solves problems concerning and provides other support of fielded hardware and software over the entire product lifecycle.
Designs airplane physical and electrical system interfaces, encompassing airplane and seat wiring.
This role will require occasional national and/or international travel to visit customers and subcontractors.

This position is 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to perform work onsite at one of the listed location options. This is at the hiring team’s discretion and could potentially change in the future.

 

Shifts: 1st shift, 8:00 am – 4:30 pm
The Design and Analysis Engineer role is 100% onsite in Everett, WA OR Renton, WA.

Job Requirements:

Bachelor's and 9 or more years' experience, Masters with 7 or more years' experience or PhD with 4 or more years' experience. Bachelor, Master or Doctor of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry.

 

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
• Bachelors of Science (or greater) from an accredited course of study, in engineering
• 5+ years of experience in engineering, including design, integration, and/or certification or equivalent combination of additional education and relevant experience
• Experience leading a cross-functional team

Must Haves:
1. Project management skills
2. DO-160 or DO-178 knowledge of experience
3. Understanding on Systems Engineering concepts
4. Experience working with suppliers and customers – supplier/ customer facing role
5. Experience with aerospace interferers (working with aircraft seats)
6. Having experience with electrical System interface design

Plusses:
1. PMP certification

 

Successful completion of training is a contingency for this assignment – OJT or formal classroom training.
